
Fred Clausen
Fred Clausen has served in Texas public school education for over thirty-nine years. He has enjoyed a successful career as a teacher, coach and athletic administrator. Fred is a Past-President of the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association, after having served as President in 2007-08. He was honored as the High School “Athletic Director of the Year” for the state of Texas in 2008 and was inducted into the Texas High School Athletic Directors Hall of Honor in 2009. Fred, who earned his Certified Athletic Administrators Certification (CAA) in 1995, has served on the THSADA Board of Directors for eight years as the President, Vice-President, Membership Chairman and on the State Leadership Training faculty.
He was awarded the 2005 Texas State Award of Merit presented by the THSADA and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). Fred was the Texas State nominee for the 2007 NIAAA National Citation Award. The Texas High School Athletic Directors Association is the nation’s largest group of Interscholastic Athletic Directors with a membership of over 400 directors and coordinators serving school districts across the state.
Fred’s career also includes coaching the North All-Star football team in the 1993 Texas summer classic and serving as President of the Texas High School Power Lifting Association. He has worked closely with the Texas University Interscholastic League, serving on several key state committees. He and his wife Monica are the Executive Directors of Equally Fit, a coalition of Dallas-Fort Worth area athletic directors that coordinate and supervise coaching clinics for coaches who work with middle school and high school female athletes. Fred is the author of “The Essential Elements of Successful Coaching”, a professional development tool for coaches at all levels and all age groups.
Fred retired in May of 2009 from his position as Director of Athletics from the Grand Prairie Independent School District after having served in that position for ten years. His leadership was instrumental in bond package development, concept, design and construction of over $35 million in athletic improvements in the Grand Prairie school district.
Fred is currently a business development & school relations representative with Foxwood Sports in Texas. He continues to excel as a professional development trainer and author, dedicated to the enhancement and improvement of extracurricular and co-curricular activities in Texas and around the United States. Foxwood Sports is proud to have Fred as a leader of the Foxwood Sports team serving all of Texas.
