Burlsworth Foundation Letter
The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation was created in remembrance of my brother, Brandon. Brandon was a walk-on at the University of Arkansas who went on to be named All SEC and All American. He was later selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 1999 NFL draft. He was not only a tremendous athlete, but a devoted Christian who always put others before himself. Tragically, only days after his first mini-camp with the Colts, he was killed in a car accident on his way to church.
It has become my mission to carry on Brandon’s desire to help and inspire others. With The Brandon Burlsworth Award, we are able to recognize a senior football player each year who demonstrates the same drive, diligence to school and good moral character that Brandon had. It is my goal to encourage more schools in the state to become involved with this inspirational program.
"Brandon was a wonderful young man with the heart of a lion. He always gave 100% in the classroom, on the field, and in life. The partnership of The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation and Foxwood Sports is the bringing together of two champions that I have had the pleasure of working with. I commend both organizations for their efforts to provide better opportunities for young people and for school athletics"
- Tom Tice, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Harrison, AR
In order to reach this goal, The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation has partnered with Foxwood Sports. As of March 2010, Foxwood Sports agreed to provide a portion of its net revenue each year to the foundation in the name of the Arkansas schools it has as clients.
I have the greatest appreciation for Foxwood’s recognition of the positive impact The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation has on children. Their commitment to join us as we continue on our journey to develop and implement concepts which generate funds for the benefit of children's charities, especially those for children with limited opportunities, is truly commendable.
Sincerely,
Marty Burlsworth
